Wisconsin Limburger Cheese on Rye Sandwich
On sliced rye bread (pumpernickel is delicious too) thickly spread
Limburger cheese and top with onion and pepper to taste. Served open-faced. Warm up in oven until cheese just melts.
Other variations/additions to try:
• Add a slice of braunschweiger or liverwurst and horseradish sauce
• Sardines with mustard
• Anchovies with olive oil drippings from package
• For added crunch, try toasting the bread first
